Becker Report post Posted July 23, 2012 Well we squeaked away Saturday night to get some bow fishing in. Got on the water at 11PM and shot until 3AM!!! Water was really murky making for a tough night until this beast showed itself. Really there was no way it could hide HAHAHA. The three of us took shots but Jody managed to thump it with her pink arrow and get him in the boat!!! Not everyday you see one of these cruising about a regular lake. ENJOY! rcdinaz Report post Posted July 23, 2012 That is wild! Is it a coi or a goldfish carp cross or something? Never seen a goldfish that big!
Becker Report post Posted July 23, 2012 I am not sure but guessing its probably an escape artist from someones bait bucket that had the chance to grow up. Some gold fish or koi is my guess.

Coues Sniper Report post Posted July 26, 2012 So is that just a giant goldfish or what? I saw a bunch of them in a small lake in new Mexico a few years ago? Yes. People dump them into lakes and ponds sometimes. I've seen schools of them on golf courses as well.
YoungHuntr Report post Posted July 26, 2012 So is that just a giant goldfish or what? I saw a bunch of them in a small lake in new Mexico a few years ago? That would be a Cyprinus carpio, AKA the common carp. That particular variation is often referred to as a koi and as such can grow to VERY large size. They are often found in urban ponds and I have tried to catch them on a fly rod before, they are very spooky. They exist in waterways throughout the united states. And no I did not just google that, LOL.
TScott27 Report post Posted September 17, 2012 Whoa! That is a great catch! You got me wondering when I would be able to show off something like that. Been busy with work and have been missing hunting and fishing. At least I get to be with guys and gals who are after the same interests I have here in this forum.
