G&F Update Regarding Draw Results

The part I don't like here is where it states, "With any luck it is possible that the draw results posting will become available by the end of July."

 

With any luck by the end of July, that sucks. So more than likely we're looking at another couple weeks.

The only people I feel sorry for are the kaibab hunters everyone else can and always does play this waiting game its part of putting in. Game and fish can only do so much

G & F can do a better job. For the folks who use a check or money order, their funds are deposited in the bank. If they don't get drawn, the state has to generate warrants and use postage to get those funds to us unlucky enough to draw a tag.

 

The way they do it now, credit cards aren't authorized until after a person is drawn. This way they only hit those of use lucky enough to draw a tag. But if a credit card is not authorized, now G & F has to "reassign" that tag, and hopefully that card will authorize. The software used to determine draw results should not take longer than a day to run. If it does they have other problems.

 

On a Monday, Jim Paxon and his team puts together a batch credit card authorization file. A file with 150 thousand transactions will take less than 2 hours to process. The response file will state which cards are approved and which aren't. Later that day the authorizations will settle (G & F gets paid). Based on the response file, credit cards that are not authorized the associated applications are rejected. Now take the remaining applications that were approved along with the applications that had checks or money orders and run the draw. By Wednesday, G & F is putting together a refund batch file and posting draw results. Depending on the issuing bank some funds may take longer than others, but most funds should be refunded within 24 to 48 hours.

 

Now I know it is easy being an arm chair quarterback, but credit card processing really is that simple. Yes there is an interchange fee to charge a person’s credit card and a fee to refund, but I guarantee you it’s a lot cheaper than printing and mailing warrants

I think they will be out later in the week. I havent heard of any more cards being hit. Just waiting for them to go threw. Finalize and proof read before publishing

True that! I have 0 patience as it is, but I wont bitchh about AZGFD until they produce the results AFTER the deadline they have stated. As far as I am concerned, they are "early" if the come out Aug. 9 or before!

Just think of the people that put in for archery draw. Hunt opens on 17th. Don't leave much time to put in for vacation! They could start a little earlier.

At least we know if we drew or not if applying with cards. I drew so makes the wait for results a lot better knowing im hunting somewhere then when we only had they check option.

I only feel bad for the early archery deer hunters, everybody else like myself can wait. even though it sucks to wait lol. Daniel
