my first run in with cwt.com

Recommended Posts

Okay so I have wanted to post this since I started on this site. This was my first run in with anyone associated with cwt.com. It was during the 2006 late bull hunt in 6A. We were setting up camp a few days before the hunt and a rhino that was fully enclosed with a white cwt.com sticker on the back came blasting bye. He stopped and informed us he was a guide and had been hunting the muzzle loader hunt for a week and there was no elk in this area. We talked for a bit and he went on his way. Opening morning we had three 6x6s down before sundown. We all could not help and talk about the guide that told us no elk were here. Since I was done opening day I got to witness this rhino with cwt.com drive up and down the road with their client all day long for a whole week. It got so bad that we actually kept a counter of how many times the guide with his client drove bye. Finally during the last days of the hunt after driving bye our camp probably 100 plus times he stopped, and tried to find out how we shot all ours bulls. Of course we lied and gave him the run around, after he left all I can remember is the cwt.com sticker. I didn't post this story to get ripped on by guides I'm not saying all guides are like this or all cwt.com people are like this, it was just my first encounter with cwt.com and thought I would share it.

Too funny. The good thing is that it got you to this site so you could see that most of us are NOT that guy! How about some pics of your bulls?

Yeah no guy wants to be "that guy" haha there are a lot of monster muley heathens out there that put CW stickers on to persuade that MM is the way to go. But CW is the way to go Amanda made this site super user friendly and very efficient.

I love to see guys like that get skunked!

My first encounter with CWT guys was at Wide World of Maps. They couldn't find a gun store in the area so I led them over to it since I needed to go anyways. We got to talking and the guy ended up showing me a few honey holes on the map I just bought. :) For all the bad ones there are a lot more good ones out there!

That guy must have fallen through the cracks despite the 16 page application, 2 hour interview, and 14 day waiting period it takes to be issued a cwt.com sticker. I know I was sure bummed when my application for a cwt.com sticker got denied because I was deficient in my community service hours. Even though I was not considered worthy to be issued a cwt.com sticker, everyone I have dealt with on this site has been pretty cool.

Now that's some funny stuff.

6ANut.....glad you had an encounter with this guy because it got you here on CWT. I'm sure you have found most of the cwt members are willing to share information and many are very knowledgeable about coues deer. Welcome to the best coues deer site on the internet and keep in mind that just because a sticker might say cwt.com on a piece of equiptment doen't always reflect the integrity of this site. :)

+100 TJ, very well said. And I'll add this - while this is mostly a "coues" hunting site, I think the very best hunters of elk, mule deer, bear, lions, javelina, pronghorn, coyotes and jackrabbits in this state visit this site daily and share ideas and information in ways that other sites could only dream of.

No I did not fall thru the cracks. I just purchased the white Rhino with the sticker on it already. And it had a cracker jack box in the glove box. Well in that cracker jack box was a neatly wrapped prize and inside that prize was my very own guide license. Don't be a hater of THAT GUY.

Unless I was physically handicapped, I would be pretty ticked off if I was on an a guided elk hunt, and was driven around in an OHV all day.

As a site redemption... I *think* it was 2006 when I stopped a hunt with a teacher to help another archer get their bull out of 132d! ;)
