coueshunter Report post Posted July 20, 2012 Coach, I hunted 12AW late (with a tag in hand) last year and the year before. The years prior I helped out in Duwane Adams camp. My sincere advice is to hire a guide. Couple reasons why: you dont have time/money to scout it and you have waited this long for this premium tag. Here is some logic behind my reasons. The unit is very large and the deer can/will be spread out over the unit regardless of the snow fall. Year before last I shot a great buck down low and 1 client the same day shot his big buck up on top with 2-2 1/2 foot of snow. If you are not as familiar with the unit as you should be, you will not know alot of the spots to move to if you are not finding the caliber of buck you are looking for. The "hiring of a guide" is for his unit knowledge, not necessarily that he is a better hunter than you. Regardless of what you do, I hope you have a great hunt. If you drew the Kaibab, I know you will love the terrain/weather etc....I have hunted it for 12 years now and have fallen in love with it..............Allen Taylor..................
