Red Rabbit Report post Posted July 16, 2012 While in the San Juan Mountains of Colorado last week, Rica my GWP located a covey of ptarmigan while I was readying my camera gear for some landscapes, Needless to say, the lens was switched and the "hunt" was on. We were able to get within 10 yards of most birds before they walked further away. It was difficult keeping Rica at heal when her quarry was so close. Nikon D90, Nikon 300 f/4, 1.4x TC, tripod.
