AZLance Report post Posted July 15, 2012 Man, we have got a lot of rain! all the tanks are full, springs are bubbling again, and creeks are running again. There is ample feed for the deer to grow their antlers now. I think we have had rain 13 of the last 19 days, and the all day soaker today was awesome. 6+ inches and counting... This pic is from 36B today, in some places the grass is 2 feet high already.

billrquimby Report post Posted July 15, 2012 Here in Greer, a friend claims his rain gauge has recorded only about 0.7 inches of rain since April 15. It clouds up every day, but no moisture falls. Despite this, the forest service has reopened Pole Knoll and other portions of the forest upwind from us. I hope the powers-to-be know what they are doing. 6ANut Report post Posted July 15, 2012 It rained all day yesterday and almost every night here in 6a,5b for a week now. I was near the pine grove quiet area last night, my gf and myself heard an elk bugle. It was lighting and raining really good, can any shed any light on why this bull was making noise? Also spoke with a ranch hand who has been running cattle around long lake and say he has seen many nice bulls. We exchanged phone numbers and he said he would keep my posted on the elk. I'm not drawn in that area but would be more than willing to pass on the information I get.

I left 6a last Sunday and there was no rain so good to hear it may have started. I too heard a bugle that trip but it had to have been a young one communicating to the cows who were making a ruckus. All the big ones I've seen have been in bachelor herds or solo.
