elk on trail camera's

Recommended Posts

Hows everyone getting good trail camera pics? Are you just finding a good funnel? or working a water hole? maybe a good bedding area? Just curious for some pointers before I set my first ones up.

water is great. I've had bulls coming in day and night but it makes your cameras a little more susceptible to theft so we try to limit water. we've been concentrating on heavily used trails and funnels mostly and been getting lots of pics of elk, deer, bears, turkey, bobcats, and coyotes. been an active couple months with cameras. totally amazed at the amount of bears this year.

I put salt down over the weekend on 1 cam so we will see if it makes a difference.

I use mineral blocks myself and seem to get the best results of those and they dont stand out as much. IMO they last longer especially in places where the snow pack hits hard.

when you put down an attractant ie. food/salt they will start hitting it and then they tell their friends and they tell their friends and so on. LOL! seriously though, sometimes a salt spot will take some time to develop into a great spot!

a good trail to water has been working good for me.
