Dixie07 Report post Posted July 8, 2012 Hey Guys, I am new to the forum but have been reading on here for a some time now. I just recently purchased a Jim White Head and had a few questions. It seems like quite a few of you guys use these on here. The head is very smooth in the panning mode, but in up and down tilting it seems a lot rougher than I would have expected. I was wondering if there is some way to adjust this, or if I should send it back for another. Thanks for the help.
Siwash Report post Posted July 10, 2012 I recently acquired one and had similar issues when using the tilt with my 15x binos. I spoke with Jim White and ended up sending it back to him. He had it back to me in less than a week and I am pleased with the results. I will say that with the size/weight on the Jim White head I am sacrificing a little bit with the tilt's stability in comparison to my old Manfrotto 701rc2 head, but that head is a tank, so it seems to be a decent trade and I am going to learn to work with the Jim White head in the field...it's really, really nice to have a lightweight glassing set up. CouesWhitetail Report post Posted July 10, 2012 You can give Jim a call and talk with him about it. The Jim White Head is not a true fluid head, so you might be expecting more than you should, but maybe not. To me, it's not rough at all, just touchy....it will change position quickly when you loosen the adjustment for the tilt. But give Jim a call and describe what you are experiencing and he can tell you if it's normal or not. If not, he will fix it for free. 928-635-5316
