ready2hunt Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Looks like a 6-3 decision to uphold the individual mandate in the law. What do you think of this?
creed Report post Posted June 28, 2012 This a giant headlong leap into full blown socialism. If they can mandate this what is to stop them from mandating whatever they want? With this ruling that you are required to have healthcare they will be in control of you when this legislation is fully implemented. My girlfriend and I attended a class on the constitution a while back. Their opinion was that with all of the amendments attached to the Constitution that Obamacare would be upheld as constitutional. The article we have today is so far removed from the original document that it isn't even close to being the same.
ready2hunt Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Not only can they mandate it but now companies who have 50+ employee's can face a fine if they don't offer health care options????????? This will start to curb our successful capitalism model....all small businesses will just hire 49 to avoid the law....many wont be able to afford the jump in the cost to grow. Sad day for us....here's hoping congress wont fund it or that it'll get repealed. I have a feeling our forefathers would be shaking their heads in disappointment that the people have become so dependent on the government.
kazpilot25 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 This is terrible. Not only that, but since when does the supreme court have the authority to legislate from the bench? Obama said the entire time "this is not a tax", even though we all called BS on that. But now, the supreme court says they can't mandate it, but as a tax it's legal. So they in turn say we'll interpret it as a tax and say we're all good. Even more reason we need to vote Obama out of office in November. This will kill our American Capitalism. If he gets re-elected, it will be implemented fully and there will be no way to repeal it.

As a small business owner with over 50 Employee's I've done the math. The fines/penalties/Taxes that will be levied aganinst me for no longer offering health benefits (which I currently do offer) will be far less than then premiums I currently pay. Only a 1/3rd the cost of the healthcare premiums I currently pay. This of course was intential to create the incentive for employeers to dump their benefits so even more people will become dependent on the government cementing the nanny state mentality. DesertBull Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't this bill originate in the Senate? Tax bills have to originate in the House of Representatives.
ready2hunt Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Excellent point of view "SCOUTM" I am glad you shared that with all of us. "DesertBull"- You're correct HOWEVER that is how the justices who upheld it and justified it. The justices who are against it said that for this very reason it is illegal as a whole. Cheif Justice Roberts who switched sides to support the liberals wrote: "If an individual does not maintain health insurance, the only consequence is that he must make an additional payment to the IRS when he pays his taxes," Roberts writes. He adds that this means "the mandate is not a legal command to buy insurance. Rather, it makes going without insurance just another thing the government taxes, like buying gasoline or earning an income." Justice Anthony Kennedy- "usually the court's swing vote, dissented, reading from the bench that he and three conservative justices believe "the entire Act before us is invalid in its entirety." In a 65-page dissent, he and Justices Antonin Scalia, Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito dismissed Roberts' arguments, writing that there is a "mountain of evidence" that the mandate is not a tax. "To say that the individual mandate merely imposes a tax is not to interpret the statute but to rewrite it," they write. kazpilot25 Report post Posted June 28, 2012 I just lost the right to be left the HE*L alone. This gives me a huge pit in my stomach I couldn't agree more. I've been sick all morning. Now the only way to get rid of Obamacare, is to get rid of Obama. I'm not a big fan of Romney, but will definitely be voting for him in November!
Snapshot Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Once again the American people are slapped in the face by the polluted liberal left wing Supreme court judges. Fisrt HB1070, now this. Plus Obamas free pass to as many as 3 million illegals. We don't need Congress anymore. Obama and the Supreme court are running the show. Words alone can't describe the disgust I feel for Obama, the Democratic party , and the Supreme court. They are betraying our freedom, and this country. I am all for affordable healthcare, but not Obamacare. however, I am a poor man who's entire life has been stripped clean by the economic crash created by the greed of various entities. Now the Fed's want to force me to buy insurance that I cannot afford, or face being penalized if I don't. Nice.! This is a sad day for Americans, as the United States is no longer the land of the free, or the home of the brave. Welcome to the new Socialist America. Say goodbye to freedom of choice. The ignorant sheep of this country will vote Obama into a second term, and the nightmares will only get worse. Hide your guns and ammo.
DesertBull Report post Posted June 28, 2012 This is a big boost to Romney, IMO. The majority of Americans want this bill sent to the crapper. He's the only candidate that try to repeal it. Even ultra lefties don't like it because they wanted single payer.

Even ultra lefties don't like it because they wanted single payer. It may be a boost. but probably not enough to defeat Obama. This country is breeding liberalism at an alarming rate. And our slick talking Dictator of a president is working all angles. Pandering to the gay and latino votes, as well as the younger and clueless generations. Based on various poll statistics I have read, the majority of Americans do not want Obamacare. A situation of this magnitude needs to be voted on by the American people. It is our right to decide. We are left holding the bag, becuase our elected officials are not working in the best interest of the american taxpayer.
BeardownAZ Report post Posted June 28, 2012 Majority of Americans dont want whats going on and how much worse its going to get. Unfortunetly most are clueless sheep as well and are to busy with modern distractions to care or do anything about it. We(society as a whole) in a sense are going to reap what we have sown and its not gonna be good!
