Great service on the north end where the Pavement turns to gravel.

I've always found good service at the fish cleaning station near the Big Lake store. Get too far from it and i've had issues.

I also have Verizon. I have found the best service by the map of the lake across from the old RV dump. There is a little pullout there. This is usually a good enough signal to talk, but if not, the Intersection of Roads 88 and Water Canyon, just above Crosby Crossing offers a pretty good signal.

It depends Doug, do you still have your vintage 1990's phone, or are you in with the times with a more modern phone that receives signal better?

Well i have verizon and pretty impressed with coverage up in 1 and 27...i dont have to leave camp to make a phone call in the forest. But only camped in Big Lake campground once 3 years ago and thought service was pretty fair everywhere... or i was just looking at my phone every time it had 3 bars.

My buddy has to go into Alpine to make a phone call on his Sprint phone

I have ATT and the only place I barely get service is outside the vehicle at the corner just down the road from the dump station. Otherwise it is back to the top of the mountain at the lookout just before you head down on the paved road back to Eagar.

It works up near the store and near the dump station. I have Verizon also.

Last may on my turkey hunt I called home and found out Osama bin laden was killed when I.was at big lake. Priceless.

Tight lines Doug

Right above the turnoff into Big Lake, there are always hunters and guides parked along the side of the road making phone calls. There is service, but if you move around too much and try to call while driving, more often than not the call is lost. Just above where the pavement ends after the turnoff into the Big Lake store and campground is the most reliable spot I've found in there.

My friend has been calling me with no problem from near the store at big Lake. Good luck Doug. :)
