jamaro Report post Posted June 25, 2006 As you many of you know I am kind of a roadwarrior... this week I was in Boston, MA... Anyway, there is this large sporting goods store in Kittery, ME and I just happen to walk in looking to waste some time and shoot the Trykon... SO GUESS WHO IS THERE; SIGNING BOOKS.. CHUCK ADAMS... WOW.. What a surpise.... At first I was not sure what to expect but he is really a nice guy.... We talk for about an hour about elk hunting, Coues deer hunting and Chicks... I was really impressed... Lets see a interesting things.. 1) He is still things that coues deer is the hardest animals to hunt. 2) His Elk hunting book might be out in Dec, he is trying to find a publisher 3) He things the older T-heads are stronger than the new xp's. 4) He is alot smaller than I thought he would be. Overall, he really seemed like a nice guy. I think he is pretty reserve and really shy.... Personally, I don't think he went looking for fame but it found him... I forgot... Some of the execs at the Trading Post were talking about Nugent... I guess he wanted over $50,000 for the weekend.. PLEASE... Nugent is just annoying... I don't know about how much outside financial backing he had but I know he put his butt on the line with some BIG LOANS... From just talking to him, he seemed like a decent guy to share a camp with... he can be my "wingman" any time..

And who cares if he had financial backing or doesn't scout for all his hunts? If I was to draw a tag in Wyoming, Montana, Oregon, etc, I sure as heck would not be able to swing the time for a scouting trip.
bowhunter4life Report post Posted June 27, 2006 it all goes back to what is a trophy to each person.some are happy to let others point to the game, while others like myself take great pleasure in doing all the homework and seeing the results.when I have let other show me in other states, The feeling of accomplishment is not as high as self guiding.mike
COOSEFAN Report post Posted June 28, 2006 We had Adams at the R.M.E.F. booth this year at the Expo a couple of months ago. Growing up, I had always idolized him, and read anything he published and my favorite pic of him was him with that monster Coues buck he killed on the Res here in AZ. I had always dreamed of meeting him and constantly thought of what I would say to him if I had the chance. I walked up by him at the expo and noticed he did look smaller in person ( helps make animals look bigger in pictures), but I didn't feel interested in talking to him anymore. I had learned over the years that he did have alot of help and there is probably hundreds of guys out there that should get a little credit for most of his trophies, and not JUST him. Most of these guys are always "behind the scenes doin the dirty work" and he gets to do the fun part. He is an incredible archer, innovator, hunter and writer and deserves all the credit he gets, but now, I would rather meet and talk to the guys that helped him along the way! My thoughts about Mr. Adams changed a little when he walked up to my buddy's bull at an awards banquet and told him, " Anybody can kill a 400"plus non-typical bull"! That wasn't fair to my buddy! I told him that is why Chuck has to always wear "beanies" instead of hats, they stretch better to fit his big head! JIM>
