Big Browns Report post Posted June 7, 2012 I am thinking about starting to invest in Silver. Does anyone have a local person that they buy Silver from? I would like to buy from a local distributer instead of out of state if possible. Thanks, Adam Young
bonecollector Report post Posted June 7, 2012 I just started about a month ago. What are you looking to buy? Coins, rounds, bullion? There is a shop on power and Main I believe that my buddy told me about. He has been dealing with them for years. I am going to go there as soon as I can make it over that way. I can let you know for where its at when I go. Silver is the way to go imo right now.

missedagain Report post Posted June 7, 2012 something you want to keep in mind before investing in something like this is the liquidity of the asset, ie who are you going to sell it to when you want to get out of it?
Snapshot Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Silver is a very liquid commodity. You can buy physical silver to keep in your safe, or you can buy it on paper in the commodities market. Paper silver is worth less than actualy having bullion in your hand
Big Browns Report post Posted June 8, 2012 What kind of silver do you recomend buying? I'm planning on spending about $100 every pay check. Do all shops charge over spot or do some sell at spot? Adam 928-595-1554

Pine Donkey Report post Posted June 8, 2012 As a commodity, silver will hold a value if there is ever a true disaster. It can be bartered if people were not willing to take dollars. Also, in a disaster, plastic money will be useless. If you hold physical silver it will always have a value. My favorite type is American Eagles. Adam, if you find someone who sells at spot, let me know.
pwrguy Report post Posted June 8, 2012 I think holding any physical assets is a great idea. You never know what may happen, but I think cash is riskier than silver right now or the forseeable future. You are on the right track and the closer you can get to spot the better, I'm sure everybody that deals needs to make some kind of margin. Good luck
DesertBull Report post Posted June 8, 2012 American Eagles, Canadian Maple Leafs or pre-1965 dimes.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted June 8, 2012 Be careful with the pre65 stuff, it is not .999 pure. You should pay based on the silver content, not on the total weight.
bonecollector Report post Posted June 8, 2012 I would never buy a certificate. If a disaster hit you wouldnt have anything but a piece of paper. The voin shop I told you about will charge $5 over on eagles and will buy back at spot.
Pine Donkey Report post Posted June 8, 2012 5 over is pretty high. You should be able to buy at two or three over.
