I was hoping to spend the weekend in the mountains, but my boss is going to Africa on a safari tour for 3 weeks. I need to be around to handle emergency service calls. Dangit! Lv2hnt Report post Posted May 27, 2012 Memorial Day was established to pay homage to those who paid the ultimate price serving the U.S. (Veteran's Day is set aside for all those who served or are currently serving in uniform).That difference undoubtedly is very real to those who have family members, friends, or service mates who gave their lives in combat (or otherwise). My heartfelt thanks go out to all of them (you) everywhere! I think it's vital we all remember the unique significance of both holidays.
