Man, that's the million dollar question...Best thing to do is shoot as many as you can and then decide!

Also, I know its hard, but dont buy into the magazine ads hype. While looking for a new bow I shot quite a few, some in the $1k range that were "the best. " Luckily I didnt like them for one reason or another, but fell in love with the Assassin; even more so when I saw the price!

Also, last years bows are still among the best this year, and some go back even farther! Check out archerytalk and you can find private owners or even shops unloading bows way under what you'd expect to pay! For instance a shop in Wisconsin has NIB Assassins shipped to your door for under $550 pretty regularly, and some private owners are selling bows bought in January for $400!

I prefer M A T H E W S .... smooth, fast and whisper quiet.

There are tons of good bows on the market ... shoot a bunch and buy what YOU like. Don't let someone else tell you what is right for you. Few years back I went to Archery headquarters and was sold on Bowtech from all the press and from word of mouth. Guy there said I should shoot several, which I did. When I was done, the choice was clear to me FOR ME. Someone else may have made a different choice.

You hit it the nail on the head. Most bows now a days shoot great and you just have to find the one that fits you. I highly suggest you go to Archery Headquarters and shoot a few bows. These guys are the best in the business when it comes to helping you get setup. If it's your first time or you don't know bows please don't make the mistake and try and save a few dollars by ordering on line. It's worth it in the long run to let Archery Headquarters set you up. Tell them I sent you. They probably won't remember me but that's ok. lol

See if i had the money i would get a Mathews cause my dad has the Mathews Switchback XT and My uncle has the z7 and i have shot there bows before and they are amazing. But the problem is that im only 16 years old looking for a job so i gotta get a cheaper bow until i get a good steady job and can be making good money so i will probably get the assasin and then get the new mathews bow for next year but if i dont like next years bow then im getting the Heli-M cause that bow is amazing. But thanks for the thoughts guys.

About a month ago I went on Archery talk and bought a Hoyt CRX32 that was originally purchased last January. It came set up with a Sword 3 pin sight, Boehner Quiver, 8 Gold Tips, Ripcord release, winner's choice string, tru fire release and Simmons stabilizer. I paid $560 shipped to my door. The thing is spotless, there is not a mark on it. I would definitely recommend checking out the AT classifieds. Just make sure you read through the post on the way business should be conducted, it sort of has its own culture that was not quite what I was used to.
