3a 3c archery

Recommended Posts

I'm happy to say that this buck was taken on the jr's hunt. It's on the AZGFD website pics. I had an archery elk tag and had a few elk coming to this waterhole (as hidden as they get theses days). I found out my truck battery went dead after hiking out. A nice guy helped me out and told me his son had a mule deer hunt. I showed him the 100 or so pics and showed him exactly where these bucks were coming in from. They shot him opening morning from what I understend. He was well over 180. He sent me a thank you. Isn't this how it's supposed to work?

Lesson: Help people when thay have a dead batttery, escpecially when they are wearing camo.

3A-3C was becoming very good before they went to the over the counter archery tags. Now with the limited tags I feel that it will start to gain back the age class needed to produce more 180+ bucks. This past year we killed some awesome deer in this unit even with all the over the counter tags for archery. It is going to get good.. Here are some of the bucks we killed in 3A-3C just last year on the Junior and General hunt. Enjoy!!

I have hours of video of great bucks in velvet and hard horned in this unit over the past couple years. If you know some one that draws a 3A-3C tags (once the results are posted someday) have them call me. We are guiding the archery, general, and junior hunt this year. I feel we will kill bigger bucks this year with the limited amount of tags. Good luck to all in the draw!!

As far as I can tell, the only issue with 3c as a trophy unit, is the local poachers. I have seen some good deer in there during elk and spring turkey, but I also saw some, what I would call poaching activity. No season, long caravan's of jeeps and samuri's with spotlights and ar's. You tell me.

Azkiller no doubt there are local poachers but many of your so called caravans with ar's are not locals at all..

+1. The locals here revere the deer herd for the most part, and really get active about reporting suspicious activity. We did have a case a couple years back where some local guys were shooting horses from the reservation, then sitting on the carcasses to poach bears, but G&F did catch them.

Shane - wow, I've seen all those pix on here before, but I've got to hand it to you. You know where to find those big deer. I've hunted and scouted 3C for many years and have yet to see the kind of deer your family and clients harvest. Kudos.

I have only spent around 40 or 50 days in the unit in the last 5 years, and have seen that twice. I have not seen it since 2009. So maybe they are gone.I have never seen it happen in any other unit. With 3c being so accessable and easy to drive, I assume there would be more there. Not trying to offend anyone, just expressing my concerns.
