andygrand Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Found out today that I drew a limited entry elk tag in Utah. My first elk hunt is going to be a month long Archery hunt in August. To say I am excited would be a minor understatement!

andygrand Report post Posted May 19, 2012 Yes my cc got hit, that is how I found out. I drew the wasatch unit. I don't know yet if it is archery or any weapon but with 3 points going into the draw I will take either one hahah
Flatlander Report post Posted May 20, 2012 The wasatch is awesome. I used to camp up there when I lived in West Jordan. Congrats again.
andygrand Report post Posted May 20, 2012 Thanks. I am from Utah just transplanted to AZ via the Marine Corps. I grew up on the wasatch unit but only chased deer never elk. This should be a blast!

Utah doesn't run a 1st/2nd pass like Arizona. It runs a first pass, then any tags leftover from the first pass go to a second pass. Your second choice is meaningless for 99% of the LE hunts because they all go in the first pass. BTW - I also grew up on the Wasatch Front...in Lehi.

andygrand Report post Posted June 6, 2012 Looking at strawberry, Currant Creek, and Tabby mountain areas. I know some spots off the beaten path that usually have some bulls.
