Big Browns Report post Posted May 8, 2012 I'm thinking about buying a left over Wyoming Antelope tag this year. I've never been to Wyoming and I have no clue where to go. Has anyone here got any info they would be willing to share? I'm not looking for anything big. I just want to take my son on an Awesome experance and see a lot of Antelope. What left over tags would you suggest to see a lot of Antelope. Would you recomend flying or driving? Any info would be great! Adam 928-595-1554
c-ne-elk Report post Posted May 8, 2012 You can rest assured that left over buck tags in areas that have public access will be few and far between if there are any at all. I used to live in Wyoming and have hunted there for over 30 years. The bulk of the left over buck tags will be in the Northeast portion of the state where the bucks are typically small and the area is 99% if not 100% private land. You normally have to go with an outfitter to hunt these ranches or pay a healthy tresspass fee to the rancher in order to hunt. My suggestion would be apply for a preference point when they go on sale in July and try to draw next year. You can draw a fair area with just one preference point but a "good" area will take 2 to 4 points.
AverageJoe Report post Posted May 8, 2012 You can get leftover doe tags in many units and have a great time. I did last year in unit 73. Got two doe tags. Also you can get a leftover buck tag in 30 or 31 and still have a good hunt. There is public land there but not much. You can pay a trespass fee and kill a good buck. Trespass fee will be 100-300 dollars for that unit. If you want you can get 6 tags for those units as there are so many leftover. Pm me for any further details
