AntlerObsession Report post Posted May 24, 2012 How well does corn do? Hot long does a bag last? I've always been afraid I'd just end up with fatter squirrels.
kaibabkiller Report post Posted May 24, 2012 How well does corn do? Hot long does a bag last? I've always been afraid I'd just end up with fatter squirrels. About 8-10 days per 50lb. bag. Mainly deer eating it up this high, a few coatis, squirrels and turkeys eat it as well, down lower javys will destroy 50 lbs. over night!
trophyhnter Report post Posted May 24, 2012 Good info. Are you hiking in with the 50lb of corn and placing it all at once or are placing the 50lb bag in several trips as you check your camera?
kaibabkiller Report post Posted May 26, 2012 Good info. Are you hiking in with the 50lb of corn and placing it all at once or are placing the 50lb bag in several trips as you check your camera? Yup, hiking it in along with a 40lb. bag of trace minerals. I'll set out 100lbs. of corn and 40 lbs. of minerals each set per month at 5 different sets. Closer to the opener in Aug. we'll step up the corn and add sweet feed. I try to replenish the feed weekly starting the 1st of Aug. I found that the closer to water the minerals are, the more they'll hit it. The corn and sweet feed they'll travel for.
