rthrbhntng Report post Posted April 27, 2012 Last weekend was our third annual partnership Youth Turkey Camp and it was a resounding success. The Arizona Elk Society takes cares of camp logistics and the NWTF takes care of rounding up the mentors to take the kids hunting. This year we had some great support from PVCI, AFC and Hunt of a Lifetime. We had over 60 kids hunting and about 21 other kids in camp. The AES sets up an archery course to teach the kids about bowhunting, the Arizona Flycasters were there teaching kids about flyfishing. Seminars are held each day to teach kids about turkey hunting and predator calling. Brenda Valentine visited camp and took a young hunter out for a hunt. rthrbhntng Report post Posted April 29, 2012 HAHWG: Last weekend HAHWG volunteers and HAHWG organizations pulled off three simultaneous turkey camps during the juniors only turkey season. It was awesome. • An estimated 200 junior hunters participated at the three events. • The events drew more than 500 total attendees. • Partners in the three events: Arizona Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation, Mingus Mountain Longbeards Chapter National Wild Turkey Federation, Outdoor Experience 4 All, Xtreme Predator Callers, Arizona Bowhunters Association, Arizona Sportsmen for Wildlife Conservation, Arizona Elk Society, Phoenix Varmint Callers, Cabelas, National Shooting Sports Foundation, Youth Outdoors Unlimited, Southern Arizona Chapter of National Wild Turkey Federation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, Hunt of a Lifetime Arizona Chapter, Arizona Flycasters, Outdoor Arizona Kids (OAK), Arizona Wings Taxidermy, and Arizona Game and Fish Department. • 22 birds were harvested. Even better, every kid (and parents and many younger non-hunting siblings) heard gobblers, had a safe time, and enjoyed top notch hunt camp camaraderie.
