1uglydude Report post Posted April 25, 2012 This year i think the october whitetail hunt is a week later than other years, but 1 thing in common is they are always when is full moon, can anyone explain that? According to the hunt guidelines (which are used as a primary source for each year's hunt regulations), the October whitetail hunt should generally open on the "Friday of week 43." If that has landed on a full moon the last few years, then it is only by coincidence. They don't go by moon phase when setting seasons. The reason all the hunts run somewhat later this year is because the first Friday of 2012 was January 6th and leap year threw the count off a bit.
