pwrguy Report post Posted April 13, 2012 I have 12 points for antelope. I drew in the early 90's I think 1991 and then in 2002. I have participated in 5 hunts and enjoyed every one of them. None of them were B&C type animals, but they were all close and all a lot of fun.
joeeden Report post Posted April 13, 2012 Last year there were 19,115 applications for 825 antelope permits (all weapons combined). If they would be awarded evenly, that would be an antelope permit once every 23 years. So you can see that patience is a key to surviving the dreaded words "draw unsuccessful" If you are drawn, count your blessings, have a fun hunt, and don't complain if you don't get a Booner because you put too much pressure on yourself to succeed after waiting years to draw. It took me 18 BP to draw a rifle permit a few years ago. I realize I may never draw antelope in AZ again. That is why God made Wyoming . Very good point Doug. I've still never hunted one but if I was that serious, there are tons of opportunities that are affordable in WY and NM. Something to kick around. It is frustrating to not draw year after year though.
ronaldo Report post Posted April 14, 2012 I drew a couple years ago with 17 points. Rifle hunt, killed an 84. My son drew the second time I put him, the year before me, in the same unit. He shot an 81 at 380 yards when he was 11. I swear God was watchin over us on that one. Cause the next year he missed a cow elk on the junior hunt at 50 yards...LOL My wife drew the same unit the 4th time I put her in. She killed a 78. We have been lucky.. I am back up to 9 points. I wouldnt waste more than 5 points on an archery hunt for antelope. Elk is another story... Ron

Pine Donkey Report post Posted April 17, 2012 1334633901[/url]' post='305799']Between my uncle and me 34 bonus points and finally this year drew 2 of the unit 1 rifle tags out of 20! Finally!!! I drew that hunt in 2010 with 16 points. Great hunt that only lasted about 2 hours, but I now relive that hunt each time I see the mount in the living room. vitalzone Report post Posted April 21, 2012 Just wondering how many bonus point you guys have for antelope. I now have 15. Thinking about archery next year. 17 for me, been putting for New Mexico the last few years as well, drew 2 tags there. If I never draw Arizona, no big deal, New Mexico has some monster bucks as well, and can hunt other states also like Wyoming. azhunter23 Report post Posted April 23, 2012 16 after not drawing this year. Only applied for archery up to this point, might be switching over to rifle next year. Never been drawn but helped on others and loved it, but you won't hear me complain because I have daren't 3 archery elk tags in the last 4 years. Interested in applying in Wyoming for speed goat but for some reason I feel lost when looking to apply for any out of state hunts.
