Packing while archery hunting

Recommended Posts

Could someone send me the link that used to be in the Wildlife News (G&F website) section regarding carrying a handgun while bowhunting? I can't seem to find it on here anymore.

I haven't heard anything more about it, read anything in the new regs nor is the G&F claiming such an article existed. I read it myself from their News. They're asking me to show them where it was stated. Anyone get any clarification on what was posted? It seemed a little odd that they'd post something like that and not address the issue much more. Thanks

Thanks mzlloader. What does it mean to "issue a directive"? Does that mean it's in the works and will soon become law?

According to Game and Fish, the directeive was issued and you can carry a non hunting handgun for protecion, when I ask G&F what the stips were, This is the answer I got, It cannot have a barrel over 6 inches and cannot have a scope or any other sight sys that will magnify.

Thanks. I've mentioned this to several people and they're all on the same note with this being effective as of immediately (or back in Dec.) Too bad the department and there employees aren't.

Don't know if you still need this resolved. I called the customer service dept @ the game and fish and they are faxing me a copy of the directive. Will scan it and email it to you if you need it. Same goes for any one else who does. Let me know.

I got it, thanks. Last I recieved was an email stating that they'd "found where the directive was issued". But didn't say much after that. Not too willing to fess up to giving out in-accurate info. Imagine all those who break the law from getting wrong info from the dept's employees.

I figure since more than half their staff has no idea what I'm talking about when I ask, carrying an actual copy with me while hunting wouldn't hurt. Never know which type of officer you will meet out there.
