Any one that was been please let me know anything that could be helpful. I'm on a five day hunt but will be there two days early and leave two days later. So any type of travel , hotel, hunt, or general information will be greatly appreciated! Thank you!
billrquimby Report post Posted April 2, 2012 I hunted both islands in the early 1990s, so any info I might have about hotels, etc., would not be relevant today. If you'll be hunting chamois, the chances are good there also will be Himalayan tahr around. They are interesting animals and you probably should think about hunting one. My outfitter was Paul Bamber of Wanganui Safaris. His place is on the rim of the canyon of the Whanganui River on the North Island, New Zealand's equivalent of our Grand Canyon. If you want, I can give you his website and email addresses. He has some huge red deer on his place. He arranged my tahr and chamois hunt on the South Island with another outfitter who no longer is in business. It's been close to 20 years since I hunted there.
