Cabelas 10X42 Binoculars

Recommended Posts

I was at the Outdoor Expo today over at the Ben Avery shooting range and was wondering who else tried out the binoculars? There was a variety of binoculars set up on tripods for you to try out and compare. There were Swarovski 15x56, Nikon 10's, Kaibab Vortex 15x56, Cabelas 10x42 (camo pair), Cabelas 12's and a Vortex spotting scope.

Overall I was most impressed with the Cabelas 10x42 (camo pair at the end.) For the price I thought the Cabelas 10x42 were amazing for clarity, the wide view and ease on the eyes. The Nikon's were horrible IMO, just hard to see through and not very clear. The Swaro's were good as well as the Vortex. Did anybody else try them out?

I know how hard it is to spend two thousand dollars on a pair of binoculars, but trust me and many others. Do it! You will never regret it! You will be much better off buying a high end binocular. They will last you your entire life time and the warranty's are great. If you watch the classifides you can find a used pair of 10 or 15 Swarovski for under $1800. There was a pair of Swarovski 15's on craigslist a month ago that sold for $1400. Keep saving and buy the best not the 2nd, 3rd or 4th best! Just my 2 cent's.

That's crazy my buddy and I were just talking about Cabela's binos yesterday!

Let me start by saying I own Leica's and my bud owns Swaro's, so we have both bought long range glass for life. We both also own at least one pair of Cabela's. He has had his Swaro's for 20 years but he has bought 2 lesser power Cabelas binos over the years including a pair of 10X42 XT's that he just bought for his son. I could not afford top end glass when I caught the Coues hunting bug so I bought a pair of Cabela's 10X42's probably 15 years ago to get me in the game. We have not spent more than $300 on any of these Cabela's binos. The conversation we were having yesterday was about how impressed we were with the quality per dollar of the Cabela's binos. I absolutely agree that you should buy the top end glass but the Cabela's binos have their place and you won't necessarily want to get rid of them once you get top end binos. Besides they are great for use by youngsters, spouses, friends, etc. who are learning to glass effectively. I say get in the game with the best you can afford and ultimately get top end glass, but don't use junk glass or glass you are unhappy with until you buy top end glass.

So there's my 2 cents if you want it.

Its amazing how much money we all spend on stuff. I bought a pair of Herters 7x35 many many years ago. When I came to AZ I got a pair of Bushnell Customs 7x35 which was top of the line then for $100. I now have a pair of Euro Cabelas 10x42. My Herters are still in the boat. My Bushnells are always in my truck. They are still clear and have found more animals than I can remember. My Euros are in the safe and only come out when I am really serious. Cabelas sells many different binocs. The Euros are the best IMO.

It is nice IMO to start with cheaper and work up.
