JVS Report post Posted May 9, 2006 My wife has a unit 1 tag...We went opening weekend, got snowed out and the wind dang near blew us off the hill. We did locate one tom just before dark Friday evening and got up on him Sat morning, but he must have had a nice harem because he was definitely not interested in what we had to offer. We left Sat noontime. I would assume the rest of the weekend was great hunting. The weather turned very nice...I'd try just above Springerville toward big Lake in the ponderosas. Let us know how it goes.

BACKCOUNTRY Report post Posted May 9, 2006 last weekend I hunted the Brady park/Brady spring area. Saw 6 toms running for their life on the fs 404 road. 16 Mule deer also running hard on the fs 61 road. 8 Elk acting very skidish on the fs 65 road. Then a big Mexican Gray Wolf appered by our camp along Mineral creek. Guess what was making all the game act so scared. anyways no shots fired, but I did have one front tire blow out on a very rough cut road. nothing like changing a tire on a 6% grade 4x4 road!! BASS Report post Posted May 20, 2006 24 road, turkey everywhere! Trust me, you need to find the 24 road, and play on that all day. Also, hang near the ranch houses if all else fails. They are not calling, so you may need to belly crawl to get a little closer. Atleast that is what everyone I have talked to says, and they have gotten birds! Good luck!
