huntingfool Report post Posted March 29, 2012 I wasn't actually referring to any specific statute, was just saying to double check the statutes to be sure it wasn't mentioned in those. Not every law is listed in the regulations. There may or may not be a statute about it, which it sounds like there isn't. There are no statutes listed in the regs that I or apparently anyone else can find. It has to be written to be law. Where else would restrictions on calibers for hunting be listed if not in the hunting regulations? It actually does say "This list is for informational purposes only and lists important information or major changes that have occurred since publication of the last hunt draw booklet. Individuals should thoroughly read and understand the appropriate regulations prior to submitting an application or going afield. Which I found and took to mean the regs are your basics laid out but read regulations for each appropriate species. After each Legal Requirement it lists the statute to refer to. Unless I am not reading it right? Yeah, and those statutes are listed in the regs. I have read them. It does not give caliber restrictions past "centerfire rifles." Maybe I am not reading your suggestions correctly. Where, other than the statutes and rules sections of the regs, should I be reading? I don't own a 50 BMG anyway so it doesn't really matter. I just have a pretty clear recollection of seeing the 50 BMG outlawed in the hunting regulations in either R12-4-303 or R12-4-304 at one time. Whether I did or did not, the restriction is not there now in the updated 2011-12 hunting regulations. The 2012-13 regs should be out fairly soon. I'll check them too. Hopefully HB2640 will be in effect soon: Two NRA-backed hunting bills have made big strides in Arizona this week. Yesterday, Arizona Governor Jan Brewer signed into law House Bill 2640, which passed in both houses by large bipartisan majorities and will eliminate restrictions on the magazine capacity of any authorized firearm regulated by the Arizona Game and Fish Commission. http://www.nraila.org/legislation/state-legislation/2012/03/one-arizona-hunting-bill-signed-by-governor,-another-up-for-a-vote-in-senate.aspx?s=&st=&ps=

huntingfool Report post Posted March 29, 2012 or you could bypass all this time and stay with known legal calibers instead of using a caliber in the gray area. It is a known legal caliber, took maybe 15 minutes to read the regs which isn't really a waste of time. And yeah Casey, we all know that if YOU don't do it then it's stupid.
