rivernut Report post Posted March 22, 2012 Thanks for all of your opinions. Still went with the Ruger American Rifle x 30.06. Also a Redfield 3x9x40 scope. Waiting for my Free Checkpad to arrive from Ruger. I'm a happy hunter.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted March 22, 2012 Casey, what the he ll is that last sentence about? You need to get back to the banjo. Ruger has always built good rifles. Never had a problem with one. The '06 is good for anything. So is the .270. Same case, different bullets. Good luck. Lark. Damnn autocorrect on my smartphone. Guess its not too smart after all! STOMP442 Report post Posted July 5, 2012 I would suggest a savage in 260 remington. Plenty of horse power at long range and less recoil than the 308. Using 140 grain bullets it will shoot flatter and drift less in the wind than the 06 and provide the performance and accuarcy needed for coues deer hunting.
