Collaboration on a Massive Scale

I don't know how many of you have ever heard of the site ted.com, but it's a fascinating site that has tons of videos about technology, entertainment and design ideas. My church recently was using some of these videos to create discussion about faith and so I started looking around and found this really interesting video that I thought you all might enjoy. It's about using the internet to accomplish tasks that seem like they are just too large and expensive to accomplish.

That is fascinating, to say the least.

 

My day-to-day job is software engineering, and we’re constantly adapting to the ways people use technology.

 

It’s mostly centered around meeting their expectations. The problem is we're constantly asking them to tell us how they think things should work.

 

The whole philosophy these guys are using to make software learn from people is 100% counter to the “old-school” approach, and looks to me like a foundation for some truly ground-breaking achievements.

That is a huge amount of info in 5 minutes ! A lot to ponder! This thread is so interesting I came back to it to look at some of the other videos on ted.com and found your post. Thanks for putting it on.

I am going to jump on this, my educational instinct begs me to share.

 

I am sure most of you are aware of the internet woes as well as the benefits, but this video is well worth the watch.

About an hour in length, but if you have kids growing up in todays technology filled environment you owe it to yourself and your kids to watch this video.
