Honestly, I cannot believe those involved would take this step again. I agree that we need to raise money for the causes, but 54 auction tags is an EXTREME number!

OK folks here is what some have told me & where you need to come from:

 

You can complain about the tags or lack of... You can complain about the money not going to wildlife conservation, but these are not going to make bit of difference. This whole thing is about money & the economic benefits of the tags & expo.

 

So, you need to understand the Governor & her office is going to look at this from the ECONOMIC standpoint. The bottom line, does it BRING in more money to the STATE than the current system & expo? I don't know if it does or does not, but if you want to plead your case, do it from the economic side.

 

The ISE Phoenix Show was not a great show this year & for me it would HELP my business if this Hunting Exposition was to take place. With that said, I don't believe we should have 54 ADDITIONAL Auction Tags & I don't believe PUBLIC funding decisions should take place behind closed doors. These are my issues with this bill & how it was pushed upon ALL of us.

If you believe these guys that say they didn't know about this bill before hand, you need to think again. Guys like that are all on the payroll. They helped craft it and knew about it and are just liars. Plain and simple. The same guys control the azsfw and the ada. This is about controlling an unlimited amount of the best tags in this state and providing them to folks with unlimited assets. They are selling it to brewer only as a money deal for the state and without a lot of input from us, they'll get it. It's time for pitchforks and torches. This has gone on too far. I held out some hope for the ada, but no more. The ada and the azsfw need to go to he ll. Lark.

Businesses to email or call that are linked to AZSFW. Also businesses that advertise with these publications need to contacted and informed that if they continue to support these mags with advertising they will lose our business. Money talks and .,......

Craig, you keep bringing up the "54 auction tags" comment. But HB2072 set aside approximately 350 total tags. In my opinion, those 300 or so raffle tags are just as important as the 54 auction tags, wouldn't you agree? By removing them from the draw, you devalue bonus points that people have been purchasing for a long time, and you reduce the odds of drawing for every hunt code they are removed from. And the money raised with those raffle tags still doesn't go to AZGFD. JMO

I just see the Auction tags as being tags that ultimately ELIMINATE almost anyone with a normal income. I can see how the bonus point deal would be disturbed with all of the other tags, but it doesn't get under my skin like the auction tags.

 

The money not going to Game & Fish doesn't really bother me that much, well...I guess it's because you see a lot of waste in government agencies. My main concern, & this is just me, is who decides where the money goes for access, youth projects & such?. So they raise all of this money, now who's in charge of it & who controls it? This is Public money, not just theirs. They didn't exactly enlighten us on this bill, so are they going to ask our opinion & discuss the financial decisions with us, or just ask the guy with the big pocket book.

We as taxpayers pay the Governor and her aides and AZSFW is wasting our public dollars by wasting our Governors time trying to push something 99% of hunters, the AZGFD Commission and the majority of senior staff at the AZGFD department do not support. I find Governor Brewer's decision to even hear them to be pretty offensive. HB 2072 makes no sense economically because it could actually reduce license revenue (raffle tags do not require a license up front) and will lower auction tag prices in an environment where auction tag prices are generally going down anyway. I have no problem with 3 governor tags (what we have now) for each species selling for $150K+ at a critter banquet, I have a big problem with 50 tags selling for 20K a piece because the auction tag market is flooded. This bill is an economic sham and I would seriously lose a ton of respect for Governor Brewer if she hadnt figured that out after the first paragraph or two. I would compare it to taking a $1000 gun to a pawn shop and getting $10 and saying, "at least we got some money, we needed more money". Even worse, allowing the $10 to be controlled by AZ(SFW) would be like seeing that $10 spent on cigarettes and booze.

 

It seems another Gilstrap was involved with a similar idea to create barriers to entry for average joes, here is an article from 2005 about "premium" tag pricing (senate bill 1365). Once again they spin it as adding to department revenues but in reality it is just manufactured barrier to keep the average joe numbers down to improve opportunity for people with means. It was shot down for good reason. See below for Hays Gilstraps comments on that one. Sound familiar?

Another BLACK EYE for the ADA! When is enough, enough? Either take action and dump AZSFW or you are in this with them and quit being dishonest with the sportsmen of AZ!

Anyone on here a lawyer or have one handy? I think we need to take this to court to block it once and for all. AZSFW is tryin to steal from the public. I am sure there is a way to fight it.

 

Sure, it would be great to file a lawsuit. But where will the money for legal fee's come from? A case of that magnitutde could cost a couple hundred thousand or more.
