azdmax Report post Posted February 14, 2012 Hello everyone, Wow am I missing something here? I'm just browsing throught the "Amended" (on-line) 2011-12 Hunting regulations and there are no hunts listed for units 11M, 25M, 26M, 38M AND 47M. In the non Amended paper version, there are hunts year round depending on weapon type. Wow, good thing no one called the 1-800 number on me!!!!

azdmax Report post Posted February 16, 2012 Hay all, I just wanted to give an update. I went by the AZGFD this afternoon and brought the changes that I noticed up to one of the employees. He seemed quite shocked once he reviewed and read both versions of the hunt regs and realized that there are no predatory or fur bearing hunts in the "M" units (he referred to them as). After making multiple phone calls he was unable to get a clear answer weather or not that this was just overlooked when presented to the commission and passed in state law or (my wording) yet another sneaky way AZGFD does things. But It seemed as if no one was aware of this. All he could advise me of at this time is that according to the amended hunt regs, it is now illegal to hunt Coyote, Skunk, Raccoon, Bobcat, Foxes, Ringtail, weasel and Badger (regardless of weapon type) in the "M" units. (11M, 25M, 26M, 38M and 47M) This is not a permanent answer and he will be looking into this to find out what happened. I was told that he will get back to me next Tuesday when he returns from a couple days off. In case it comes up, the “Phoenix Metro No Hunting Zone map” is only a very small well populated portion of some of the M units. I guess the yotes in my back yard are safe from arrows flying at them FOR NOW!!!!
trphyhntr Report post Posted February 16, 2012 i thought i read it was legal but you can only use rimfire?
azspike Report post Posted February 17, 2012 I would like some more info on this as well. It seemed like when the "expanded" metro hunting was passed it only applied to dove and ruled out everything else. I have never hunted in an M unit, but saw a pack of yotes on my way out of town the other day and would love to get back to them.

azdmax Report post Posted February 23, 2012 Hello everyone, Well good and bad but I have an update. Sorry for the late post but I’ve been a bit busy!! The gentleman from the AZGFD called me back on Tuesday (just as he said!! Bonus points!!!) and he fished his way down to the bottom of this ordeal. The good news is that the AZGFD did in fact overlook the hunts in the M units when they amended in December 2011!!!! The bad news is they are not going to amend the hunt regs until the new 2012-2013 regs are printed. So technically, until the new hunt regs come out, it is illegal to hunt the yotes and other animals in the M units. But like most are thinking – What amended regs in December are you talking about Mr. Officer????? All I have is this here copy of the regs that I picked up at walley world and it says right here that hunting is ok in these areas!! HHHHMMMMmmmmmmm!!!! Have fun and good luck hunting your weasels and badgers!!! And BTW no one knows who I am!! He he he
JLW Report post Posted February 27, 2012 had an officer call me back today and says as stated above it was an over site on there part but it is legal to hunt the M units and said just to follow the general regs that were printed. He said no one is going to get a ticket or fine. IMO there is no way to know if someone was able to get the on-line regs. Now back to the M's so I can stick me a coyote with my bow! On a side note... made 7-8 stands in 23 and got skunked! Did call in a bobcat on the last stand but my partner didn't see him as he was 75yds above me I couldn't point it out to him! He stayed for like 10 minutes at about 240 yds or so all I had was a shotgun! Tried switching sounds, lip squeekin, shakin a decoy feather and nadda! when I turned the caller off and he was gone!
