My new Popup Camper

Thanks to forum member Chris for fixing up and selling me his popup camper! I picked it up last night and hope to camp in it next week during the women's javelina camp. It came pre-loaded with a CW.com sticker I think Chris charged me more because of that!!!

It's not a big camper, in fact it's about the smallest popup you can get, but it's nice for towing behind the jeep and I think my husband and i will enjoy it! It's an older model, but the canvas and interior are in near perfect condition! And Chris threw on some new tires, gave me an extra propane tank, and redid the bearings and spindles for me...thanks Chris!!

Awesome! My only advice is you cannot have too many tires for your pop up! I have a smaller one too, and even the best tires available are marginal for trying to drag them where you want to go! IMHO.

You're going to love it, out of the weather and comfy. Just the right size for towing!

My wife and I have a 30 foot trailer which we love. But sometimes I wish I had a pop up too for those occasions when I want to head out on my own to hunt, fish etc!

They definitely will want to raise it up especially the places Amanda likes to go. The axle is different than most but I'm sure there's a way to left the frame. Julie & Sunshine are going to love their new home away from home.

 

I can just hear Amanda now "No Paul, it's your turn to get up and let the dogs out."

Very nice. They definately make it nice when the weather gets bad. Hector and I had mine in Colorado a few years ago during a snow storm and it made a huge difference. Heater didn't turn off at all one night. But we were warm.

Awesome Amanda! Looks like a good one! As you know, I had a pop-up for several years and the kids & I got some good use out of it!

 

Doug brought-up a good question. You can get a little extra clearance with the axles flipped.

 

Joeeden also brought-up a VERY good point. Those little suckers really chew the tires up! Check your tires regularly, and carry spares! They are pretty cheap to buy, and you will be happier in the long run (especially on long trips) if you have more than a single spare. A few years ago, I found myself with TWO blow-outs/flats on the way home from our annual Utah camping trip. Luckily, the second one happened just outside of Flagstaff so I was able to run into town for a replacement!

 

Finally, I found over time that it was nice to be up off of the ground (with a gas stove inside for warmth!), but storage and 'move around/dressing' space can be limited in a pop-up. When the kids and I would go on long trips, I took to putting-up a 4 man dome tent right next to the pop-up to use as a changing/clothing area. Seemed like with four of us in the trailer (even though it was a large Coleman) it just got really crowded with all of our gear, etc.

 

Either way, I'm sure you two will enjoy it!

good advice....I have three spares (thanks to Chris!). I am a little worried about flats, but I guess I will learn where I can and can't go with this camper.
