Mike Minnick Report post Posted April 1, 2006 This is my first time using this site and I am hoping to get the ball rolling in my first coues bowhunt. I currently have four species in P&Y with all self guided and all spot and stalk. They are QL Caribou, Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer and pronghorn. I am after all of the species in North American that I can take WITHOUT a guide. I generally spend 2-3 years planning a trip and this year I will be in Alaska for moose. I have started the draw process for Bighorn and Goats but I am expecting this to take a while. In the meantime, I am looking for a challenge and this seems like the right place. Is there good public access to a potential P&Y and are tags accessible. I am willing to trade information as I can put you on mule deer and elk for about $800 and Alaska moose for under $3K (including airfare to Fairbanks). I would even consider another one in the group for the Alaska trip for the right person. I have found that if the animal is in the area, I can get him. All I need is a little help to get me in the right place. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
WHT_MTNMAN Report post Posted April 1, 2006 Welcome Mike, every unit that has Coues has P&Y Coues. Lots of public access. All of the archery deer tags (as of today) are OTC. You will see alot more bucks in the rut during the Dec. and Jan season but IMO the August/Sept. season offers a better chance for archers, less pressure and easier to pattern. KGAINES Report post Posted April 2, 2006 Buy the How To Hunt Coues Deer book, it gives units and tactics, Amanda sells it on this site, it is worth the money if you are planning a hunt, and definitely if you have never hunted here. Good Luck and God Bless
