Well, the quotes all related to the meeting evening, I guess they need to be read in the topic context.

I've put as much or more effort into my posts this last month than anyone on this site. I've researched more coming in blind as an outsider and I believe brought some insightful angles that wouldn't have even been broached. But every one was extremely important and had an agenda.

Since those quotes I went another direction that worked.

Okay guys, no question about my anti-SFW and AZSFW (they are really both the same ) point of view. How many people on this board are anti-SFW and would be willing to meet-up prior to the ADA meeting to talk through additional areas of discovery and an action plan based on the outcome of this meeting? I am like Kent, I am not whining, I am looking for action. We can meet in person or via conference call (I do not have a personal conference call number and I cannot use the one I use for work…hoping someone else has one). You don’t need to be “qualified”, the fact that you care is qualification enough. Please send me a PM if you are interested. I am in the Phoenix area. Non-residents with good input are also welcome to join us.

I think Kent’s question about the status of the AZSFW Super PAC requalification requires some work, someone should get those details (do qualifying donations come from AZ residents only? Can something be given in return - like a magazine membership?). I am hoping the ADA at least has the sense to ban a table at the banquet that would allow the AZSFW to recruit membership. Same situation with the yearly AZGFD expo (ban the AZSFW - however there are some options to make that pretty ineffective if they do). I went to grad school with some lobbyists (one now reports to Jan), I can probably ping them for clarification on any points of confusion on the Super PAC qualification. Did the ADA pay the AZSFW dues yet? (Kent asked the question, would the AZ Secretary of State have that answer?). It is a yes or no question that will come out eventually, no harm in clarifying if someone knows the answer.

Does anyone know how much our muley tag sold for at the SFW expo last year? I would also like to know the numbers about the other comparable tags that have sold within the last year or two. Seems pretty stupid for Utah to get the benefit of exposure of that tag (and blah blah, I know we didn’t pay a brokerage fee and that the money comes back to Arizona….still stupid). Just for kicks, I went and looked on a Utah board on another website and the biggest topic was our expo auction AZ muley tag…..they thought $220,000 was awesome….drunk on SFW Koolaid I guess. No wonder the Utah situation is so screwed up.

Anyone that cares about Arizona Hunt Opportunity needs to get engaged with this. Control (stealing) of tags for financial gain is the core mission of the very well funded SFW (and their Arizona branch the AZSFW). They bank on resident hunter apathy, it lets them operate behind the scenes in a sneaky non-confrontational manner. Arizona hunters need to confront the issue and the little rats will scurry when the lights come on. Even if you choose to remain undecided, your presence at this meeting will speak volumes about how Arizona hunters can mobilize and clean house. Amanda has a room at the Bass Pro on 2/21/12 (next Tuesday) to talk about the ADA direction on the AZSFW.

Once again, PM me if you are interested in attending the anti-SFW pre-meeting. Let me know where you are and a couple options for when you are available.

Ryan

Amanda, just for the record, I didn't want to meet John per se. I offered my support of the meeting and the 10.00 donation suggestion within certain parameters, John challenged me. I was the one with the leverage, offered my terms in different ways as each was rejected by the ADA silence... I spoon fed the ADA a PR draw to the meeting, John meets Kent...

What I've discovered during this last month is when the orgs get out of the conservation issues and try to maneuver in the political arena, they have no clue... and the mess of azsfw is the result.

ADA is still mired in the support/nonsupport of azsfw, for those of us past that point it's like watching grass grow... I can't watch anymore.

YVRGC and AES claim to have and are no longer listed on the azsfw site as org members.

Kent the only thing I will say is that if you dont show up the the Special ADA meeting than u need to sit back and keep your mouth shut.

Its people like u who make me mad as heck.

You think you know it all but when u have the opportunity to get some education at a meeting (you have no time for) or its not worth your time.

I am the longest standing board member of the ADA ,past president and all.

I have put my time going to meeting and driving all over the arizona in search of better opportunities for OUR deer population and to hear you sit on your

computer and tell everyone the ADA blew us off is a bunch of BS.

Get of your butt and move away from the keyboard and do something productive for deer in arizona.

This is in no way any personal attack on you or anyone else but if you bitch that you dont like something you have to stand up and work toward a solution

not sit on your computer and bitch.

Kent,

I really do understand your frustration. I for one hope you do show up to the meeting and don't give up. It sure seems like you have a handle on what goes on at the legislature. I think you could be a huge asset to any group that is willing to listen to your advice. My thought is that if you did show up and speak or ask informed questions it would at least get everyone thinking.

LOL... I've got 50 maybe 100 posts in these threads and hours of research on multiple subjects. Go back and rebut the real issues.

I completely understand your last statement. But I think if your goal is to get the ADA to renounce it's association with AZSFW, that it would be much more effective to come to a board meeting and express that.

I encourage everyone here to get involved. Kent and everyone else, would you be willing to serve on the board of directors for the ADA or some other group? John and I have posted the need for new board members for the ADA many times in this forum over the years and got very little response. Get involved before these or other issues come up. Be proactive. If you don't like the direction the ADA has taken, why not work to get on the board and help change policy?

I offered almost two weeks ago to accumulate my research and bring it to the meeting, even premeeting with some of the board if time was a factor, even involving other nonmembers. I stated I needed the time to do this... Silence was my answer... I swear the ignorance astounding.

Again, I will say that I think posting this type of request in a forum is not the most effective way to set up a meeting with the ADA board. I have given you John's contact info so that you can set up a meeting with him or have him set up a meeting with other board members. John has stated he is more than willing to meet with you prior to the meeting. If you want to present information to the board, I suggest you call him and arrange a time and place for that.

So Warbird

Can you tell us all, does the ADA still support the AZSFW and their lobbyist? I think it would be helpful to know this before the meeting.

Thanks,

Mark

Amanda. again, My initial response a couple weeks ago was to John's challenge right here on this site and in this thread. I'm not requesting anything, he was... tell him.

The post you quoted was to Warbird and his childish rant.

I'm done with the ADA!

This is not the ADA I knew and appreciated. Let me first clarify, I have never been a member of ADA, but I participated at a few of their banquets and events, and supported their mission. I remember the ADA who stepped up and helped at the AZ HUNTERS WHO CARE trash cleanups. It was guys like Stanley, and Amanda who came down and brought ADA's youth trailer to help out with cooking lunch for 300+ volunteers who used to show up. Man I really thought, this ADA is a great organization, and the people who are the organization are good people.

ADA used to represent all deer hunters in AZ, wether you were a member or not. It was NOT a good ole boys club, or a who's who of AZ hunting, it was simply a bunch of guys who wanted to improve deer hunting in AZ. It was not something you did, so you could list it on your resume, but something you did, because you cared about hunting and other hunters.

But times change and so do the people involved, and in this case it is not for the better. I am sure there are some of those old members who just want to improve deer hunting in AZ, but the new tome of the ADA is disheartening. You have guys like PBJ, SMACK, and WARBIRD who on here representing ADA, and instead of listening to the hunters of the state, they are too busy covering the a$$es and attacking the average hunter. The ADA could have easily come out of this situation as the leader in hunting organizations after the AZSFW fiasco. They could have easily said, we have not decided where we stand, and want to hear from our members and the hunting population of AZ on this issue. I think the hunting community would have recognized this as a positive thing, and had patience with the organization. But when you come out and don't want to listen to the hunters who made it possible for their organization to survive, you have missed a golden opportunity to help the hunting community to get thru this hard time.

I am a simple man, and don't ask for much, except being honest. And at this point I am so frustrated, I have lost all faith in the ADA and a few other orgs who have dropped the ball. The silence from the ADA in the form of a official statement has been the downfall of a once great organization.

Goodbye...
