maximus Report post Posted February 23, 2012 Question, if you buy a new BMW 750i that cost over $100.000.00 if you crash against the wall does the warranty covers or the insurance? i think the same thing applies here, is not how much they cost but is you who should be responsible for your things. just my thought. Elkhunter1 Report post Posted February 23, 2012 I have sent my Swaros in twice, once they fixed for free (second time I sent them in). $75 is the standard lens replacement cost. I am gonna send them in again soon because I chipped my lens and I can see it....I am expecting a charge though. Lecia, Nikon, Vortex and Pentax all have NO FAULT warranty... Alpen also has a no fault warrenty. I recently sent my 10x42's to them and they sent me a new pair, at no charge, except for the shipping to get them there. westernhunter23 Report post Posted February 24, 2012 How would/could you expect a better warranty on physical damage that is caused by you/the user? Are they supposed to fix their binos free of cost for bonehead mistakes? Im guessing youre not a businessman? I am not either, but I know that is a quick way to lose net income money. When other brands are offering a no fault warranty such as Vortex you would expect this as well from the most expensive one out there. I really don’t think this is as crazy as you think it is. I really wouldn’t call them “bonehead” mistakes as accidents happen and when you buy the best you want everything along with it to be the best. Vortex is a solid business and making lots of money so obviously some businessman there is making good decisions.
CaptainObvious Report post Posted February 25, 2012 I really struggle to understand this "No fault warranty" victim mentality, entitlement logic...Let me get this straight...When I buy something and I use it...it should last forever? No matter how, when, or where I use it? Sweet! Because that taking care of stuff and being responsible for your own actions is way over rated...When do you think we could start applying "No fault warranties" Vehicles?
ZJARCHER Report post Posted February 27, 2012 How would/could you expect a better warranty on physical damage that is caused by you/the user? Are they supposed to fix their binos free of cost for bonehead mistakes? Im guessing youre not a businessman? I am not either, but I know that is a quick way to lose net income money. I'm an ex businessman... no longer by choice. BUT my dad is and has been for over 40 years, much due to this mentality. If he repairs something that wasn't his fault at no cost, but it was on his prior work, its a sense of pride in his work and keeps his business steady by word of mouth. Keeps business flowing. Heres the way I look at it... It builds the brand, builds loyalty, keeps people coming back (to purchase goods from company "A" with the warranty, instead of company "B" without), and gets people talking. Talk= business, which= repeated business. Just the fact that when I learned about Vortex's warranty, I went out and bought a pair with the HOPE that I wouldn't have to use the warranty, but having the security of knowing it was there... I was glassing a hillside in 40mph winds, the wind blew over my tripod, busted my binos and snapped my adapter in half. I sent them into Vortex, they had them back to me in 6 days. I told everyone I knew of their great service/warranty, had 3 buddies sell their Swaros, two got Kaibabs and one got Viper HD's, and had another buddy pick up a set of Kaibabs over Swaros having heard about their great service. I, personally, wont every BUY anything but Vortex products now and I have several buddies that have made the switch as well. I guarantee Vortex made more money off of my sale and the word of mouth sales even after including having to fix my binos and replace the adapter, than if I would've had to pay a ton of money to have them repaired. I wouldn't have spread the word on the product and service, and my buddies wouldn't have purchased Vortex... Brilliant business if you ask me...
pwrguy Report post Posted February 27, 2012 I have been thrilled with Swarovski for repairs. I have sent binoculars to them 3 different times. The only time I have had to pay a cent was when I had chipped the glass on my old 8X32's that I purchased back in 1991. I am totaly satisfied that they back up their product and only charge a reasonable fee for the damage caused by me.
