Pine Donkey Report post Posted January 30, 2012 Our house is a simple place in an old small town, but we sure enjoy visits from our neighbors. They show up almost everyday and often drink out of our koi pond. Sometimes the ladies bring in their boyfriends. Unfortunately, the boys tend to get picked off from the streets and porches of town. My beautiful wife Chrystie likes to go outside and talk to them when they are in the yard. Sometimes they look at her as if they understand. Over the years we have watched generations of deer come and go. The deer in town don't even get alarmed by dogs anymore.

billrquimby Report post Posted January 30, 2012 Isn't it great to look out a window and see them? We have similar visitors at our cabin every summer in Greer. Our record number for mule deer visiting at one time was 17 does and yearlings. For elk, it was 34 cows and calves. For black bear, two was the most we've seen at one time. We've also seen two wolves near our gate. This is all in daylight. More come around at night. The deer and elk have a deep trail next to the cabin that they use at night to reach a meadow across the road from us. Bill Quimby

Bill Quimby At my parent's place near Nutrioso we get a lot of elk in the meadow by the lake, over 100 at once sometimes. Very few deer in that area. We have seen bears and wolves several times. It will be interesting to see how the travel patterns change after the fire.

ThomC Report post Posted January 30, 2012 Daughters cabin in Christopher Creek: Elk, deer, turkeys, and our fish guts cleaning crew the raccoons. Last Sept. I got to watch the Elk rutting in the meadow all night and then at day break they went up the mountain screaming and fighting. No tag but still love that show. stanley Report post Posted January 30, 2012 VERY cool Pine Donkey! I grew-up in Kearny, and our house was on the edge of town by Steamboat Wash. We would get lots of javelina and coyotes in our yard and driveway. Not too many deer it seemed, though we always knew they were there. This post reminds me of growing-up in 'small town' Southern AZ. Good stuff! Thanks for sharing wth the site! S.

tjhunt2 Report post Posted January 30, 2012 This is really cool. Another great post by PineDonkey. This reminds me when I was growing up in a very small town in Brilliant, Ohio. In the winter months I would watch the rabbits play in the snow at night under the lights of a full moon. I hope to retire in a couple years and I would love to live where I could see some wildlife out my window once in awhile. Thanks for posting and sharing this awesome picture of Chrystie and her friends. TJ
azslim Report post Posted January 30, 2012 The small towns in Wy used to have lots of game wandering through them. When I lived in Pinedale there were a couple of bull moose that walked Main St. We used to have to look out all the windows before leaving the house to walk to school, a cow moose and her calf hung out in the woods by us, she was in the yard more than once. Or sleeping in the backyard under the stars we'd have skunks and racoons come by, we'd bury our heads in our bags and hoped the skunks kept on walking.
