DesertBull Report post Posted February 3, 2012 Yeah....all that stuff I said about giving this guy the benefit of the doubt.....screw that. I would vote for Nappy before I vote for this guy. At least with Nappy, we know where he stands on the issues.
archerycrazy Report post Posted February 4, 2012 OMG. Is this guy stupid or what. Now I've heard that he's going to run for Mayor in Glendale. We had heard that he was going to run for the Senate seat that will include northern Yuma County. I guess he figured that he'd screwed his chance here. He better hope there are no real sportsmen in Glendale. If this bill reappears in any form he and the organization involved are dead meat.
AZLance Report post Posted February 4, 2012 Unless the ADA comes out against this in their emergency meeting, they need to go away with Weiers and ASFW!

archerycrazy Report post Posted February 4, 2012 AzLance, I do not agree with you. I am not a member of ADA, but I have seen the great work that they have done over the years. It appears to me that the current attacks on ADA are the result of the support of HB 2072 by one individual. There has been no conrete indication that the entire organization was informed or involved in the crafting of 2072. There may be a need for a change in leadership and affiliation but ADA must survive. There are few Arizona organizations that really have the ear of the Governor, Legislature, Cmmission and Department. ADA is part of that group and must remain effective in order to bring forward our interests. I feel that it is unfair for us to go after an organization because of the comments of one individual, There has been no indication of support by other members of ADA. Like the rest of us, the membership of ADA didn't know what the heck was going on. George
AZLance Report post Posted February 4, 2012 If they are really for Az Hunters, they will come out against this bill. If the ADA comes out against this bill, they will survive and I and many others will once again support them. Like I said above, Unless they come out against this bill they need to go away. I don't see how Az Hunters could turn a blind eye to the ADA if they say they support the bill. No one is going after the ADA because of what one person said or didn't say. Hunters are going after the ADA because they have been quiet on this issue and have been reluctant to stand up for AZ hunters on this issue.
.270 Report post Posted February 4, 2012 i just want to know the answer to a couple questions. "they" is anyone in any kind of leadership positition with the ada. did they or did they not know this was headed our way? did they or did they not say anything about it or warn anyone it was headed this way. have they made any kind of official statement saying they are against it and didn't have anything to do with originating this bill? i'm of the opinion that if you aren't 100% against this bill, then you're for it. i don't see any redeeming qualities in anyone who has any kind of position of authority in the sfw and i don't see any reason for anyone to do anything to support them, in anyway, unless they're in on it. there is a line that when crossed, you don't come back from it. sorta like a child molester, doesn't matter one iota how much good they do or how much penance they pay or what they ever do again, they crossed the line and are a pariah that can't be trusted ever again and if you do trust them and you get screwed it is your fault. not their's. sfw and any other folks in on this bill crossed the line. and their actions in alaska and utah should be enough evidence for anyone to make a pretty good judgement with. we don't need to provide anymore, by letting them steal our tags or appoint our commissioners or make any other decisions that affect us. there are some really good folks in the ada, but they need to get off the fence and clear the air and folks need to know how deeply, if at all, they were involved. this has been as polarizing and divisive as anything the sportsmen of this state have ever seen. more so than even the uso tag grab. but it did do one thing, it woke folks up to what some jokers are capable of. be vigilant. from what i can gather from wei"n"ier's statement, this ain't over. ronaldo Report post Posted February 4, 2012 Maybe this has already been stated, but I remember when this groups started.. It was supposed to be a united group representing Az sportsman, a voice so to speak. Its a bunch a half rich guys trying to rope in the real rich guys. Now we know the agenda... A TAG Grab.. LOL. I've said it before and I'll say it again... Hunting is becoming a rich mans sport and they are ruining it for the rest of us working guys..They try to unite us with banquets and gun giveaways, be careful...I dont care for the whole elitist groups BS at all... I almost quit hunting when the economy was booming because of all the bastages in the hills with super dutys and rhinos all over heck and back... its loosend up some here lately with no one having any money... Just worried about when it comes back... Im glad this got stuck back in their face.. Ron
4TheHunt Report post Posted February 4, 2012 That reply on HB2072 looks like it was from James Wieres not Jerry Wieres - You know kinda like the difference between AZSFW & AZSFWC! Yes there are 2 of them! (brothers) in the legislature. What was with all those bills the NRA dumped without talking to anyone? Do these guys at the legislature just blindly do whatever the NRA wants? Thats fine on 2nd amendment issues, but these specifically addressed hunting. krp Report post Posted February 11, 2012 Anyone know what time azsfw will have their statement out? This will help moving forward in the coming weeks, meetings and banquets. It's good that they are going to break their silence and have been working diligently for 10 days on their statement... Hope the HB2639 amendment issue didn't cause a delay in their 10 day time limit. Kent

Snapshot Report post Posted February 16, 2012 I just got this email from Gilstrap at AZSFW. Have you all seen it This is just the first paragraph.... Some of our members recently expressed concern with some proposed legislation, HB 2072. However, AZSFWC did not sponsor HB 2072, nor introduce HB 2072. We did hear an overview of the bill at our December Board meeting, and the Board voted to support the concept. We viewed the benefits as presented for sportsmen and women, youth, access and wildlife, not to mention Arizona's economy, as very positive.
