THOR Report post Posted January 29, 2012 It is not a pelvic bone. You can clearly see the eye sockets, and the nasal passage. It is extremely light weight, and some of the small bones are hollow. A really old Javalina skull where did you find it? that Turkey back makes sence because of how hollow the bones are or it coould be a Chupacabra for sure!
CouesWhitetail Report post Posted January 29, 2012 That is a turkey back. What you think are eye sockets are the hip sockets for the legs. I believe he is correct. The reason you can't find an animal with a skull that looks like that is because it is not a skull. It's the dorsal/back bone/pelvic bone of a bird, perhaps a turkey as suggested above. The sockets are not eye sockets but sockets for the ball joint of the hip. Birds have very lightweight bones, may of which are hollow. It's possible it's not a turkey, but a raptor of some kind also or a turkey vulture or any number of other birds (duck, heron, etc). It's a little hard to tell size in your pic.
