Barnes Bullet ad doesn't make prefect sense

Recommended Posts

The Barnes Bullets' ad "pure copper makes perfect sense" showing a clover leaf group shot through a penny, struck me as ironic.

A penny is actually a 99% zinc / 1% copper alloy core that is electroplated with copper. Perhaps the ad would be better suited for the Fusion bullet.

As an aside, it is interesting to hold a penny with tongs and place it in the flame of a Bunsen burner to melt the zinc core in the penny.

Aye RR,

what do ya know about the Fusion bullet? You made a very interesting point here about the new Barnes. I used the Fusion this past season and am sold on it but would sure like some additional expert opinions concerning this bullet before I'm completely sold. Their(Fusion) website puts on a nice show but that's about it. BTW penny chemistry is very interesting I totally agree  , done some experimenting my self on pennies if ya know what I mean. Thanx in advance.

kilt me a bear and deer last year with a 150 grain .270 Fusion. Good weight retention and mushroomin'.

.270 wsm at less than 100 yards for both shots.

Funny thing is not everyone knows that, the marketing works for most people.

We also did a few penny experiments in the chem classes i took
