Free Entrance to National Parks and Monuments this Weekend

Recommended Posts

"In celebration of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, America's national parks, national monuments and some U.S. Forest Service areas will waive day-use fees Saturday through Monday. Among the free sites will be Grand Canyon, Glen Canyon, Wupatki, Walnut Canyon and Sunset Crater. While admission fees are free, other fees, including camping fees, still apply.

Also included are many recreation sites on the Coconino National Forest, including the Red Rock Pass Area. Fees will be waived for the entire Red Rock Pass area including Palatki and Honanki Ruins, V Bar V Cultural Site and approximately 300 miles of multiple-use trails. Areas not included in the fee waiver program are campgrounds and recreation areas managed under concession contract, such as Call of the Canyon, Grasshopper Point and Crescent Moon Ranch.

Additional fee waiver days planned in 2012 include: National Get Outdoors Day - June 9, National Public Lands Day - Sept. 29 and Veterans Day Weekend, Nov. 10-12."
