loco4coues Report post Posted January 13, 2012 Somebody here hit the nail in the head..... Those dead are known murders. Someone also brought up bodies hung from over passes, severed heads thrown on night club dance floors, I have personally seen dozens of videos the public will never see. Anyone ever seen a guy get his head cut off with a Stihl chainsaw on video? It's not cute, made me lose my appetite and that's hard to do. While agree most of it probably can be avoided, I'm not willing to be the one to put my neck (literally) on the line to test it. Took a Substance Abuse class this last semester and our professor brought in lots of guest speakers. All of these guests were on the drug forces of various agencies. They showed us lots of pictures and one officer tried to get authorization to show us the chain saw video, but it wasn't granted. They described the video and showed us some others. They showed us the latest KNR reports that outline where and how many of these reported murders have occured. One example from the KNR we were shown was from Jan.-May 2011 in Nuevo Leon (just one city) there were 660 murders. In Chandler,AZ from Jan-Nov. 2011 there were only 3 murders. THOR Report post Posted January 13, 2012 The U.S allows guns, Mexico does not. To the Liberal that campared the stat's. Also, the Cartels are already spread throughout the U.S since the 1980's. I would bet on my experince that half of U.S murder's are cartel related, so Lefty put that in your stats and see what you come up with. Do you read the paper, enternet, or watch the new,s? there is no comparison from mexico murder's and U.S murder's. How many people have you seen hanging from a freeway overpass. How many Beheaded bodies with messages on them do you see in the U.S? You will see more and more of this tactic in the U.S as long as WE (U.S) does little to secure the borders. The cartels are worldwide and will use tactics that third world countries use. WAKE UP U.S Far from liberal or lefty. Just put up a few numbers, that's all. Pretty childish to resort to name calling over that. I never said things weren't bad in Mexico. Only said that I have been there many times and will continue to go. Why so quick to jump on the offensive?? All I was pointing out is that 9200 murders per year over a population of 113,000,000 is roughly 8 per 100,000 people, not a super high number when compared to a lot of other places. Common sense and avoiding certain areas will go a long ways in helping a person not be one of those 8. But I guess wanting to keep visiting Mexico makes me a "lefty liberal" I can't wait until the day when I get to go hunt coues down there. The number that is talked about is far less than what really happens down there. There is many more that are "taken care of" then noted in any report or any news program! i love going to Mexico and i have hunted and guided down there. there are places to go and places not to go. Also places to go at times and times in the day or night not to go. Just like any place in our country there are a good and bad in every city. there are places in LA and even Phoenix that I dont want to go because its not a good idea at perticular times. The one of the many problems people overlook down there is that it is NOT the U.S.!! We don't have the same rights! Period!
COUESAZ Report post Posted January 13, 2012 I always get a kick out of the guys that say its safer in Mexico then in our own country. Well move down there where it is safer. I know people leaving the colonies in Mexico that have lived there for generations. They are glad to get out alive and walking away from huge homes and huge lands that have been in their families for generations. If you all thinking is safe keep going and come back safe I'm happy for you, but you are a nut job if you do not think it can t happen to you. Heck I think it can happen to me in our own country too. That is why I don't go to those place here that it can happen to me. I'm smart enough to know what is for my own good. And no amount of fun is worth my life or my children's.
billrquimby Report post Posted January 13, 2012 As I understand it, those 46,000 deaths are directly attributed to Mexico's drug war, and do not include its murders from other causes. Bill Quimby

reganranch Report post Posted January 14, 2012 Heres a different perspective, The argument that is always voiced from the pro-traveling to mexico crowd. "Its safe you just cant drive at night" You've never heard people from Flagstaff or Sedona say, "Its safe you just cant drive at night". If you cant drive at night its not dang safe. Clear as day. For everyone that lives in Pinal County i.e Casey you know how it is down here and see the trucks and loot abandoned in the desert, and heard about the two spotters in the Sawtooth mountains. Im down in Eloy on our farm and have had multiple run ins with illegals.Theres a real problem down here and it would be unwise to think that the source of the problem is somewhat idealistically safe.
