2 Full Curls Report post Posted January 11, 2012 One of my Rem 7mm mags has a stainless steel manufacture stamp on the barrel, yet the barrel is blued. The gun was given to me not long ago and I never noticed the stainless stamp until recently. I was always under the impression that a stainless steel barrel could not be blued. Is this the case? If so, is there a chance that the core of the barrel is stainless and the outer is regular steel? One way or the other, how can I tell? Thank you for the insight SW
Mike S Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Remington did this for sure and maybe Winchester. They used some sort of iron plating on the exterior surface that was then blued. Mike

az41mag Report post Posted January 18, 2012 I am also interested in this issue; I also have a Rem 700 in 7mm mag that has the stainless steel stamp on it. I beleive mine was made in 1969. It has made me wonder too about a blued stainless steel barrel. Any insight on it would be appriciated. Thanks.
