COOSEFAN Report post Posted January 11, 2012 you are pretty tough to crawl through that cactus, I think I'm too much of a baby for that! When you get to be Jim's age, your skin gets like leather. Cactus is no problem. HA! I was talking with my wife about this, and bless her heart, she's telling me that "You're NOT old, you're just out of shape".....which is her nice way of saying, "You're a semi-old fat dude that can't even kill a lazy old carp deer"! LMAO! I love that lil woman
COOSEFAN Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Wow Jim that is a great day. If this is the Jim I think it is then they are lucky you didn't bust em up. Sounds so exciting. I spotted one today and drove around and put a stalk on but was on the wrong side of it and they blew outta there. Great fun Ya know, I was reading about your pig hunt on here and wonderin' if it's the same Mario that I met! Great to see you on here Mario! I'm not sure I've met another individual who enjoys or has as much enthusiasm for the sport of bowhunting as you do Mario! With your determination and enthusiasm, along with the support of that "azsagebrush" guy , you are gonna be slayin some critters in the very near future! Glad to see ya on here, best of luck to ya! COOSEFAN Report post Posted January 11, 2012 That's what you get for chasing Carp Happy birthday though I've gotta admit......If these had been Coues bucks instead of Mulies, and I missed easy shots on em' like this, I wouldn't have been just sitting there laughing and reflecting.... I would've probably thrown my bow and beat my head on the ground until I couldn't feel the pain anymore! (Coues are THAT much better )
ragu Report post Posted January 11, 2012 Great story and great perspective. This illustrates my greatest issue with long shots in the wind. It's not the arrow flight to me, it's the total inability to hold the bow steady (even if I kneel to stay low.) This narrows my effective shooting distance in half or down to 40 or less, which in turn makes the wind effect on arrow flight not an issue really. Wind is tough stuff!!! lionhunter Report post Posted January 16, 2012 Happy Birthday! Awesome way to spend it. Definitely a victory getting within shooting distance of those bucks! Happy B- day Jim!! I missed a 5x4 that goes 180 plus two weeks ago and I had the same feeling. I stalked to within 50 of him and his does, and I shot over his back down hill, but I was not that bummed out. go figure. At any rate, happy birthday. Whitey
