matthewp45 Report post Posted January 9, 2012 Just got back yesterday from a great but short 2 1/2 day coues trip but I did come home with a beautiful buck. Thanks to Christian(azcouesandelk) and Randy for helping me out. My wife has a family member with a terminal illness and I had to leave yesterday by 10:00am. Randy glassed up a nice buck before you could hardly see. After about five minutes of looking at him and Christain with his Jeti mind trick scoring we decided he was a mature 90" buck and as it got lighter you could see he has brown, black and white spotting on his chest. He is gorgeous, just a beautiful buck so I get setup for the shot and shoot off my Bi-pod and they said you hit 3 feet right. He was a long ways away but this gun does not shoot anywhere but dead on. I look through the scope andright away I knew what my mistake was. My crosshairs were canted to the right pretty bad. So after I leveled it I shot and whop hit himand he went over the ridge. We went around to get an angle to where we could see him and found him out in the sun not feeling well so I leveled my crosshairs this time waited until he stepped out and put that bullet exactly where it needed to be and he folded and rolled down the hill. I had gotten it done but only with the help of my coues hunting buddies Christain and Randy. Thanks guys. The buck is such a beautiful buck and has an awesome story I will remember forever, which is why he is going on the wall with all my other beautiful bucks with great stories. Thats the reason we mount them right, so that we can sit in the room they are displayed in and remember each hunt and remember how much fun you had with family and friends and the stupid things you did or the unbelievable things that happened. I cherish each one of my mounts and can't wait for the next one. I will post the pic I have but Christain had to do his famous 1 hour photo session so I will let him post his favorites of the 60 or so pics he took. Thanks to Amanda for her company on the first day as well. It was nice to get out in the coues country with you again. Looking forward to the Banquets. I just love hearing the stories of cwt members helping others and the shooter thanking everyone for their help. What a way to start out the year. Thoughts and prayers for your wife's family member. It wasn't the gun this time it was me. I was prone using a Bi-pod and solid as a rock but I forgot to level the crosshairs. I had it canted to the right pretty bad.
