CouesWhitetail Report post Posted January 3, 2012 Dewey asked me to post this for him. I love how Dewey uses no camo and just keeps the wind right and consistently kills coues bucks with his bow. I killed this buck at 22yds with my compound bow. Unit C Cottonwood Canyon. I saw alotta bucks and previously missed 3 times with my homemade longbow and arrows. One buck that I missed with my longbow was a 100-105" buck at 36yds downhill. I got too excited and snapped shot the arrow. I watched the arrow sail low as it stuck harmlessly between its legs into the ground. It was a RUSH. I felt like I had just killed the buck of a lifetime at that moment even though I had missed. I accomplished my goal that day, to spot and stalk a P&Y and release an arrow with homemade equipment. So I decided for the final weekend, I'll take out "Ole Faithful" my compound bow and find a buck. So together with younger bro "Ace-dogg" we set forth and found this high racked 3X3 buck in a secluded side canyon. I stalked up at first to 80yds and waited. Watched this deer zigzag back and forth. Final at 60yds it started moving thru the mahogeny nimbling along as it went. Each time it picked thru the browse I crept closer. Now its about 40yds....waited and watched with my arrow already nocked. The buck now was moving thru a thicket so I took a couple more steps. Finally I spot an opening thru the maghogney settle my pin and waited. The buck was angling towards me when I released the shot. It was a clean pass-thru with the Magnus Stingers BH. I to follow-up with a second shot which put it down for good. Happy trails....dewey
