In need of suggestions on high quality trail cameras

Recommended Posts

I apologize this has nothing to do with hunting but I have a couple of questions about trail cameras. I figure this site has a ton of knowledge on the topic of trail cameras. This is why I asked the question here and not at some store with an inexperienced sales person.

I work in the mining industry and lately we have been being hit on some of our plants by people stealing copper wire. I know having a camera will not stop the theft. But it will hopefully give us a picture of the thief to give to the LEO as a lead in catching the thieves.

My question is; what type or brand/model of camera is there that can take high definition color pictures at night time? Also is there one out there that we can access the picture remotely from a desktop computer or smart phone?

Thanks in advance for the help,

Shane

You can use the cameras I sell for that application. If you want color photos at night, you have to buy a regular flash camera, not an infrared model. The Covert cameras that I sell have a flash model called the Reveal that could work for you.

Covert also has a model that will send you photos to your phone or email but I that is an infrared model, meaning your nighttime photos would be in black and white.

Buckeye trail cams are the best on the market. They send you pics of the culprits in real time, to a smart phone, email, or if you have a security office you can have a web page open and the pics will pop up immediately... These cameras also use "no glow" IR light so the thieves don't see the flash at night. This means less chance of the camera getting stolen also... Also they have a license plate reader option, for capturing license plates.

Lance, that is a really nice system. I read through the web page and it is something I will present to corporate to see what they say about it.

Thanks to both you and Amanda for the suggestions.

Using a game cam is a great idea. I busted one of our employees last month stealing things from our farm shop.

Its hard for the thief to deny it when you hand them a picture caught in the act. Man.......I hate a thief.
