trotsky Report post Posted January 5, 2012 Those heads look awesome. Just wondering what process you use to do those? Great job on the mounts they look great.
tomgobbler Report post Posted January 5, 2012 i send the heads off to get freeze dried, and then thay are just airbrushed for the color. You can also use artificial heads, but i personally prefer the freeze dried ones. If you dont know the difference they all look good, if you do know the difference, then the freeze dried look better IMO Those heads look awesome. Just wondering what process you use to do those? Great job on the mounts they look great.
jmall Report post Posted January 5, 2012 I have never had a turkey mounted. What steps need to be taken after shooting a bird inorder to best preserve it for the taxidermist ?

trotsky Report post Posted January 12, 2012 I figure they must be freeze dried. I had a big eastern mounted about five years ago and went with a replica and regret it every time I see a freeze dried head. I guess I know which route I will definitely will be going when I get my next bird mounted. Hopefully it will be a big merriams in full strut.
