ForkHorn Report post Posted December 13, 2011 Sorry for the multiples posts, but I would just like to clarify that I am not criticizing the Arizona Game and Fish. I just enjoy the science behind it and am only trying to better understand and help elaborate. This is nothing more than observational, and I hold the Arizona Game and Fish in high regard. Scooter Report post Posted December 13, 2011 I do too. I am also not criticizing... just trying to gain some perspective. Fork- I read the examples and I get what you're saying. It seems to make at least some sense. AZGFD are the experts and I will take their word for it! I do take issue with the fact that people will almost always choose a buck over a doe. If I had a either sex tag for a six-day season... day six if I have an opportunity to harvest a doe I'm harvesting meat. Tag soup sucks... I gotta assume that there are alot of others like me. JLW Report post Posted December 13, 2011 How many deer get tagged versus how many tags they can offer? Thanks Low success rates = more tags and hunter opportunity as well. Short hunts, and lots of people in a limited area (with limited bucks) all add up to limited success. Everything factors in to the number of tags set each year. Archery is still over the counter (except strip) because of the super low success rate. I could be wrong, but notice when the # of deer killed in an archery season has equalled the # of deer killed in rifle season and the unit will go to a draw or simply not be open as they have done with unit 22 and 23 for the december hunt. james
narrox Report post Posted December 14, 2011 How many deer get tagged versus how many tags they can offer? Thanks Sorry in my original post I did not mean finish with a question mark. It does come down to the number of deer taken. In practice removing doe will lower birthrate and decrease growth. Thanks
BASS Report post Posted December 18, 2011 There is no doe hunts because secretly we all wish to be reincarnated as a buck in the next life with the 10:1 ratio still intact.
