Are You Crazy Enough To Run After A Mt. Lion ;)

Recommended Posts

Man... where to start? I have treed two bears without a dog in sight, and yes for some reason I barked like a dog on both of them. Once while driving into look for dogs that were out over night on a bear track, a lion jumped out of a tree that was overlooking a water hole. We had only one dog in the box so I did what seemed right, I jumped out of the truck and chased the lion yelling for my partner to release the dog. The lion was treed before the dog hit the ground. and yet another time the dogs had a lion caught on the ground and were ripping into it big time. Not wanting the lion dead, and ran up to the fight yelling at dogs. The dogs backed off just enough to let the lion get it's feet, and run right between my legs as I jumped over it (kind of like a running back). Man those were the days...... o and then the time we were on the San Carlos Bear hunting and we drove up on a redish sow, we did not want to harvest her so my buddy said see how close you can get. Then he says "I will cover you", so I crept up on her to about 10 yards, she was hi scenting the air and clicking her teeth, acting very nervouse.. after a few mock charges she walked off.. I walked back to my buddy, and said "man that was nerve racking, I am glad you had my back with the rifle" he just laughed and said, "Man, I left the rifle back at camp.......nice friend...

i've been treed by a javelina with an arrow stuck in it. he stayed at our feet snapping his jaws, sounded like black cats. also watched my dad chase a wounded buck into a thicket, with no way out the other side the buck lowered his head and charged, pop turned into an olympic hurdler coming back out the way they went in. after the situation played out my uncle hollered what's the matter chickens*@t, got the buck and eternal laughs! this year i had a quail fall into a prickly pear, i looked in cautiously at several angles to check for snakes, reached in only to have a 5 foot diamondback snag my bird as my hand was a fingers length away from the quail.
