DEERSLAM Report post Posted March 19, 2006 Deerslam, what bullet did you use in the 270 to take that hog? how was the performance? congrats <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Casey, Used a 130gr Nosler Ballistic tip. It was about a 250yd shot. The pig was on top of a knob and I didn't want him to roll off the back of the hill so I went for a high shoulder shot. Didn't have a great rest so I ended hitting him in the neck and the bullet exited at the base skull on the off side. Needless to say he didn't go anywhere Performance? I think with that shot placement any bullet would of killed him in his tracks. No wasted meat.
firstcoueswas80 Report post Posted March 20, 2006 could you tell if the bullet blew up or held together pretty well? how was the exit? was hoping you were using a accubond or TSX to see what kind of expansion it got!

Couldn't really tell if the bullet held together very well. I haven't been all that happy with the performance of the Ballistic tip in my .270. I have the new Barnes MRX on order and I will be trying to come up with a load with those.
