mjmhunter Report post Posted February 25, 2006 Anybody got anything planned? My wife and I leave for an archery hog hunt in Texas next week. I have been doing this hunt for about 10 years its fun and very economical. Then in April we are going to Nebraska to hunt turkey since we can't draw a spring tag here. DEERSLAM Report post Posted February 25, 2006 I'll be going on a hog hunt here in CA. the weekend of March 11th. Other than that I'm going through the regs and application process for all of our western states. So far deer, elk, antelope and moose in WY. are done and elk and mtn. goat are done in UT. Just got the regs for CO. and OR. so I need to be going over them. I actually like going through the application process and dreaming about the hunts I may draw. DEERSLAM Report post Posted February 26, 2006 Was looking to go on a hog hunt in cali . where is a good place to go . Ive looked at a few ranches and hunting on public land but dont know much about it . any help would be great . <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The key to hogs in CA is private property. There are hogs on public land but there is a lot of competition. It takes alot of scouting away from the crowds to find where the hogs are. The private land hunts aren't cheap as far as I'm concerned and I wouldn't pay the price. But that's easy for me to say cause I have taken hogs before and can usually come up with a free hunt or two on private property. Sorry if I wasn't much help rimhunter. Shiras Report post Posted February 26, 2006 My son and I went to the Southcentral Whitetail expo in Tulsa last night and he won a youth hog hunt from SCI for naming 8 of the 15 African plains game they had there on display. He is 9, and now has to get his hunter education certificate before he can go. He is SOOOO excited! Daddy smells an excuse for purchasing another gun.... -Shiras

Kilimanjaro Report post Posted February 26, 2006 I'm getting ansy to go on the annual turkey hunt in April back home in TX.. Always tons of birds and lots of action... AND THEN ITS THE HUNT IVE BEEN WAITING FOR SINCE I STARTED PLANNING IT LAST YEAR!!!! I'm getting married in June and we are taking our honeymoon to South Africa. We are going over there for 2 weeks. I am getting to hunt for one full week, and then we are going to do a 2 day photo safari through Kruger Park, a SCUBA diving trip off the Indian Ocean coast in Durban, and then go and visit the ranch where I worked over there back in 2000 and 2001 to see the guys and do some more photo safari stuff. I can't wait till we are boarding that plane!!!
retlaw280 Report post Posted February 27, 2006 Just waiting for late March to come. The wife has an archery bear tag for 33. Many pics on trail cam. I guess Arizona bears don't hibernate!!!! Have to set up a double seat tree stand. She's in the "X" ring consistently at 20 yards. I plan to do some calling with a predator call . Anybody had luck calling in bears? Red Rabbit Report post Posted February 27, 2006 A 6B turkey tag awaits. Other off-season hunts include shed hunting and fish hunting. Not enough weekends to do it all. Appears as Scottyboy will have the best off season and come home from Texas with a lifelong trophy wife. Bonnie must be quite a gal. Congrats on the upcoming wedding and honeymoon!
